After four years of establishing a relationship with Isabirye "Isa" Taliki, in summer 2022 Aprilhelen was sponsored by the Crestwood Foundation to journey across the globe to Uganda to meet him and the 18 kids he cares for in Africa.
With the intention to uplift Vine of Hope to future self-sustainability, we currently provide support and guidance for these efforts listed below, which are open to receiving your contributions of funds, prayers, and shares!
Our food program has been going strong since 2018!
One of our goals is for Vine of Hope to become self-sustaining. Purchasing the 4-acre plot recently is a major milestone in their direction of farming.
Until we reach that goal, we are committed to providing basic nourishment needs for the 18 kids and their 3 caregivers.
Are you or your team ready to be recurring donors of $480 per month?
Access to education is a beacon of hope for vulnerable children in Kamuli District.
In 2023, we were humbled to receive further funding for our first step in educating the kids, homeschooling.
Now we are looking to call in an educational upgrade, sending our family to public schooling!
By supporting this program, you will:
Several donors, inspired by the vision of our forever home, chose to direct their recent contribution toward establishing a library for the school we’ll build on our newly acquired land.
We’re now collaborating with educators in North America and Uganda to curate a library filled with books for children of all ages.
A donor exclaims with joy:
Books open doors to our imagination, allow us to transport ourselves to new
places, to expand our consciousness and consider endless possibilities. I can
think of no better gift!
$310,000
...is what 18 kids and 2 caregivers need for a forever home!
We are inviting you so generously to give your time and funds!
Share your expertise by attending and giving voice within our strategy meetings.

As with any project, there are the accidents and unexpecteds!
Please, consider contributing to the general fund if you consider all of our programs valuable, and we'll put your gracious gifts to work for good!
For 4 years many of our donors have helped us send holiday cheer to Vine of Hope. During the Christmas season we raise a fund, approx.$900, for a special meal and neighborhood party!
We each sign up to create a hand-written card for one of the 18 children or 5 adult caregivers
We begin sign-ups for holiday cards in August, because the postal service requires several months for shipping to arrive for the Holiday season.
As of June 2025, we have added a birthday card program!
Sign-up to send a card by contacting Aprilhelen@ProgressProject.info.
Through another organization which I serve, I have the opportunity to represent North America in Nigeria, Africa in September. This summer will be filled with relationship nurturing, gardening with kids, and new partnership vetting!
Visiting Vine of Hope kids in Uganda
Since I’ll already be on the continent, it’s the perfect opportunity to “hop over” to Uganda to go love up on our little siblings at Vine of Hope! We’ll be strengthening our relationship with the incredible children and mentors we support on that side. While there, I’ll gather stories, capture photos and videos, and build a library of real-life moments to bring our upcoming land/building capital campaign to life. These powerful visuals and voices will help us share the heart of our mission—and the hope we’re growing together—with the world. This trip also offers a rare and sacred chance to sit with the children face to face, offer encouragement, have another playful day at the local pool, and witness the direct impact of your generosity.
Connecting with a New Partner in Nigeria!
This year, Concentric Circles, the home of Vine of Hope, is expanding its reach by welcoming new organizations who we provide fiscal sponsorship for. As part of this growth, when in Nigeria, I will visit a school that may become both a key partner in our global efforts and our newest fiscal sponsee—Camp Fresh. The director, Toni Oyeyemi, is a long-time service partner of mine, as we have a mutual admiration for sharing art of living skills to upstep humanity.
Vine of Hope is a home for children who have been abandoned, abused, or left behind due to the loss of their parents.
Founded in 2018 by Isabirye Taliki (Isa) in Kamuli District, Uganda, the ministry was born out of a deep need to care for the growing number of orphaned and vulnerable children.
Seeing their suffering, as he experienced a similar plight, Isa extended a helping hand, offering them love, hope, and a future—taking them off the streets and providing basic needs, such as shelter, food, protection, and education.
Today, Vine of Hope is home to 18 children, the maximum we can currently accommodate. Our biggest challenge remains space, but we are working toward expansion to welcome more children in need.
We are proud to share that the children are now moving into their sixth trimester of homeschooling, and, in a major step toward self-sustainability, we have secured a 4-acre property—a foundation for their future.
Isa knows firsthand the struggles these children face. In Uganda, many orphans and impoverished children are forced to fend for themselves, searching daily for food and a safe place to rest.
Vine of Hope exists to change this reality, offering these children a pathway to a brighter tomorrow.
